Advice For Beginning Musicians

Don’t be disappointed when you don’t sound amazing right away. Be gracious with yourself and allow yourself time to develop.

You’re not just learning how to operate an instrument, you’re becoming a musician. Take time to develop your rhythm, and pay attention to how your perception of music changes over time.

On the path to becoming a musician, motivation will come and go. When motivation is low, perseverance can carry you until motivation returns. Never give up!

Learn how to read music. It will help you gain a deeper understanding of music in general.
Learn to count music. You can enhance your innate sense of rhythm with the understanding of howl to count fluently.

Learning difficult music is good for growth but can cause frustration if it is your only focus. Remember that musical expression is enjoyable at any level. Spend time stretching your limits, but balance it out by playing music that you can play well!
