Policy FAQ
Why do I have to pay for absences?
  • A financial obligation is a great way to motivate students to attend all of their lessons, and make lessons a priority over other activities that could be scheduled during lesson times.
  • The teachers teach full time as private music instructors.   They have a limited amount of time slots to offer throughout the day.  If these time slots are not paid for in full each month the instructors would not make enough income to be able to provide their services to students.
Do i have to pay for an absence even if I give a 24 hour notice?
  • Yes, a 24 hour notice is required to receive a possible make up for the absence, but does not  relieve the student from the obligation to pay for the absence.
I will be absent for 2 or more weeks in a row.  Do I have to pay for all the absences?
  • If you will be absent for an extended amount of time, you could either pay for the time slot to hold it until you return, or give up your time slot. If the time slot is vacant when you return then you can resume lessons as usual.  If your time slot has been filled you can ask your instructor what other time slots are available and hopefully find a new time slot.
How do make ups work?
  • If you give a 24 hr notice of an absence your instructor will try to find an alternate time slot within the same week to make up the absence.
  • If you will be gone the whole week of your absence and unable to make up the lesson, a make up may be given the week before or after the week of your absence.
  • The instructors maintain full schedules year round so make ups are usually given in the time slot of another student who is absent. Therefore there is no guarantee that a make up will be possible.
